As a Philadelphia based jewelry and CAD designer, I find inspiration in the rich cultural diversity, beautiful architecture, and glamor all around me. My fold-forming technique began as I was inspired by Chinatown’s colorful hand fans, and from there I began adding small amounts of color. The liveliness of Center City presents itself in the rapid movement of each fold. The comfort of my home comes to life through photo-etching where I’ve taken familiar patterns, such as Roman Catholic filigree, and used them as a tool to bring texture into my work.
My passion for fine jewelry stems from my childhood, when I found myself enamored with my mother’s jewelry collection. I worked as her self-proclaimed stylist, helping her pick out her accessories for work before I would head off to school. Early on, I found myself most receptive to working three dimensionally, opting for mediums such as clay in my younger art classes and creating hemp friendship bracelets for fun. It wasn’t until my discovery of the jewelry program in college that I truly realized I found my niche.
In my most recent practice, I’ve been using computer aided design to create printed and cast models for stone-setting. After graduation, my goal is to attend GIA to receive the degree that is the pinnacle of professional development for fine jewelers. Currently, I pride myself on working with customers to create their dream piece, whether it be an engagement ring, a revised family heirloom, or a piece from scratch, I use the skills and techniques I’ve learned during my education to make their vision come to life. Jewelry has the power to transform people into the most confident versions of themselves, and it is my goal as a jeweler to deliver that feeling.
