Austin Drill
Austin Drill is a jewelry and CAD designer from the greater Philadelphia area. He is finishing his BFA at Tyler School of Art and Architecture, graduating in Spring of 2020. He finds inspiration for his work in the world around him. He finds shapes and forms that interest him in his surroundings and brings them together into cohesive wearable work. Bringing the natural beauty of the world into his work and representing it in a way that does justice to our world’s beauty is his biggest goal as a creator. He has always found inspiration for his work in nature ever since he started drawing as a child. The world we live in is so beautiful and rich with life, most people just put their heads down and rush through their days. The variety of life on this planet is astounding, but the modern world requires us to be constantly active and distracted by media and technology. Austin Drill’s work becomes an oasis in your life, a place to take a pause while you are stressed or overwhelmed. You can look at the ring on your hand and be reminded of the beauty in this world, and hopefully take some solace in the gift of being alive. Austin has always treasured nature as a respite from the relentlessness of life and he believes that if we value our planet the way we value technology we can exist in a world in perfect harmony with itself, all we must do is make the effort. Austin’s work attempts to show the viewer beauty in nature in order to build a dialogue surrounding an emotionally charged topic in today’s world.
