My work over the past four years has really grown to reflect my fascination with media, pop culture, and trends. In today’s world, the media influences just about everything we do, but what truly piques my interest is the way that trends and influencers go viral and become social media sensations. Once these trends are set by influencers and celebrities, they then trickle down to the everyday person. I have decided to use this influence to create both large, unique, one of a kind designs and also smaller, more approachable pieces for the person who wants that trendy look with more functionality for everyday wear.
I want to create eye-catching designs that are built with accessibility in mind so that I can work to bridge the gap between the influencer and the consumer. Much of my work is created using computer aided design, so that these designs can be reproduced and personalized quickly and efficiently. I am currently very interested in the use of widely recognized imagery as a starting point, and twisting this new imagery in a new way. Through my studies of marketing and social media, I have learned how quickly trends change, which has created an ever changing body of work for me. My designs are playful and fun and are aimed to appeal to a younger demographic. I feel that my work will really resonate with Generation Z and Millennials as they both grew up during an age of rapidly evolving technology and the emergence of social media.
