Willow Clark
Willow Clark is an artist and designer trained at Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University. She specializes in jewelry and metalsmithing, as well as photography and painting.
Her work’s intention is to marry ancient magical forms and contemporary subversive themes in order to provoke cognitive dissonance in both the wearer and the viewer. She references the forms of ancient grave goods and jewelry, but reinterprets them through modern queer and punk subcultures.
Willow Clark’s art is alchemical by nature, utilizing base industrial materials and transmuting them into noble objects, stripping away the pretenses of adornment in favor of an individualistic self expression. Her pieces are primarily constructed of aluminum, as well as repurposed ball bearings and laser lenses made from synthetic ruby. These materials present difficulties in their use, but strike a balance between traditions of jewelry and the aesthetics of factory construction.
